#ToonJune Day 1: Favorite cartoon character
I'm JUST as shocked as you are, truly.
with all of this PPG talk, i figured it'd be fun to resurface some old art--a blossom from 2019 and a supposed "UPA inspired" drawing from 2018 that i'd like to redraw someday!
tashlin’s cinematographic excellence is no secret, and i KNOW i keep saying this but it’s definitely eye-opening watching this as a board artist now—not even the super fast cutting, but just the zooms are fascinating too. i never even noticed the zoom in when porky enters!
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it many times again, but THE BLOW OUT is a great cartoon and marks a number of turning points. definitely my favorite cartoon of the joe dougherty porky era and 1936 as a whole—these pictures make me laugh out loud just by looking at them!
tyson’s definitely come the longest way—she originally started off as a camp lazlo character back in 2016 before i redesigned her in may 2018. first is from 2018, second 2019, third 2020, and fourth 2021!
i started this in 2018 but stopped when my laptop died (third pic i drew with my phone actually) and figured it’d be fun to revisit! lots of inspiration from ren and stimpy, spongebob, camp lazlo and chowder. now i’m gonna make it look as much like a ‘40s comic book as possible!
Updated my icon for myself because I am DESPERATELY overdue for a change, yeesh! Wanted to go with the comic book look to stay with the whole Duck Twacy shtick.
(I'd appreciate if you didn't use this, thanks!)
