At the height of her success, Jessie Willcox Smith was making $12k a year, or $330k in today’s money. She was among the first female members accepted to the Society of Illustrators.

Encouraged by their teacher, Howard Pyle (the grandfather of American Golden Age Illustration), they went on to become three of the most successful illustrators of their time.

In my digital painting class, I had my students use the palettes of certain masters (Sargent, Sorolla, Zorn, etc) to do a portrait, here was the demo I did based off this Anders Zorn painting

I worried that it was a fluke, that after this one book, I might not get any more book work.
