While ominous lore surrounds ravens, in Greek myth they were seen as prophetic & tied to Apollo, the god of prophecy. Apollo adored & used them as his messengers, gallant spies, & avian assistants who could see what was happening in his world 🖤 #SuperstitionSat
Let’s catch a wave —fairy style! Happy Faerie Friday, everyone 🌊🤍 #FaerieFriday
The wind was a torrent of darkness
-among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon
tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight
over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding
Riding - riding…
up to the old inn-door.
—Alfred Noyes 🖤

One of my favourites by the magical Anton Pieck. Have an enchanting night, everyone 🤎✨
Medieval bats looking quite superhero-esque. I love medieval imaginations
Wishing you all a magical & cozy evening. Hugs to you, all 🖤✨
In 1926, times were turbulent in the US, as they are now. So Rockwell invoked that Enlightenment-era sage —that complex, autodidact—Benjamin Franklin, to inspire his Post readers. Happy Fourth to all my American friends: we’re cheering you on over these next key months ❤️🤍💙
For fans of both Eric Carle (1929-2021) and owls here you go: his magical world of owls 🦉📚

I love this Gainsborough. I always think of my sister & me —he painted his daughters, Mary & Margaret. Much has been said about the symbolic gesture of the youngest reaching for the butterfly & life itself, but it’s lovely to see this masterly work as a father’s love, too ✨
