#apaintingaday a wee review of the galleries, I have visited beyond UK shores. Today we are off to #Gallerie_dellAccademia. We have to start with my personal fav, Giorgione. He was a pupil in the #Bellini Bros workshop with #Titian. He succumbed to the plague in 1510 1/2

A great deal of religious art was about communicating The Word for a largely illiterate audience. The primacy of The Word came with the Reformation. Before that provided a #translation of the doctrine into something tangible, meaningful, understandable and transformative #vss365

Due to my limited budget, my art collection is in the #print medium. I am a great fan of #Anne_Desmet_RA. I own a few of her works plus her fab wee books on journeys in Italy & Greece. My fav is obvs the last pic which depicts the @royalacademy Russian Revolution 2017 ex #vss365

#apaintingaday a wee review of the galleries, I have visited beyond UK shores. The Arian Baptistery was built in the small square of the former Arian cathedral. The cupola is adorned with mosaics depicting the 12 Apostles & the baptism of Christ, immersed in water to the hips.

I was so #excited the night before, I did not sleep well. In the morning my asthma played up so had a wee lie down. Woke up, I’m late! I rushed round to the Gallerie Accademia. There was Paul at the door waiting for me. I got to see all the beloved #Giorgione paintings #vss365
