It destroys Lachesis- like to her core she is broken. In one of the most dark scenes, she is literally stabbing herself over and over again with the Earthsword just to know what its like to die.
Thats fucked up, and angst some people will eat up and some wont.
And even still, the replacements aren't too bad at all. Their base stats are all lower, but all of the have bonus convos somewhere to boost their stats by like 3 for no reason at all. They're still more than serviceable.
First of all, gen 2 has a slew of units who are immune to the pairing system. Seliph, Julia, Oifey, Shannan, Leif, Altenna, Finn, Hannibal, Ares, Johan/Johalavier, all are going to be roughly the same no matter what. Their pairings are pre set or don't exist.
Jugdral nailed simple, but likable characters. Lex, Ayra, Arden, Jamke, etc. arent winning any awards in the complexity department, but they are all likable at the bear minimum, and round out to an overall likable cast of misfits.
Travant is another fan favorite, and I love the duality to him. You could see him as a heartless bastard who groomed Altenna to be his personal weapon or someone who just wanted peace for his people and tried to raise an innocent girl caught in the crossfire, and both are valid.
And his impact is felt long after he's gone- and that's what makes Seliph so good as well. Seliph is a nervous kid, scared that he can't live up to his Father's shadow. But he doesn't have a choice- the world needs him, and scared he may be, he rises to the occasion.
Sigurd is a fantastic lead. He's equal parts a tragic hero and equal parts the instrument of his own demise. His actions are understandable, but are also what ultimately does him in. While he might not be the most interesting personality wise, he definitely does his job well.
But over all, I still think both games are good, just that they have different things they do well.
I think the story is better and dismounting is good in 3, and I think the assasain subplot and Shadow Dragon reclassing makes 12 have its own merits.
Honestly, play both.
However, Kris does get the spot light in an entirely new sidequest- the assassins subplot! This is where Kris really gets a reason to exist, as its clearly written with them in mind. Katarina, Legion, Clarisse, all are added on here and do a great job with their story.
Now as an avatar, Kris is often ignored entirely- never spoken of with Robin and Corrin, and forgotten with Mark. And personally, I don't think they deserve it. The Kris's are decent characters on their own, with a distinct personality in supports... Though in story, its, well...
