Nina Williams from Tekken was loosely based off of Maggie "Nina" Hayward from the Point of No Return film.

Point of No Return is a remake of the 1990 film Nikita, featuring Anne Parillaud who served as the inspiration for Anna Williams.

In Street Fighter, Birdie's occupation, before becoming a criminal, was being a professional wrestler. His rival was Slam Master's Titanic Tim. Occasionally, they would team up and their tag team name would be "500 Trillion Powers", a parody of Kinnikuman's "20 Million Powers".

Zangief's "Siberian Blizzard" Ultra Combo, from Super Street Fighter IV, is a direct reference to the "Kinniku Driver" from Kinnikuman.

Twelve was modeled after the Alien Spell from the Ultraseven series. His name comes from Episode 12 of Ultraseven, where the Alien Spell infamously debuted in.

The episode was banned because the Alien Spells resembled the hib*kusha (victims/survivors of the at*mic b*mbings).

Karin is an expy of Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie. She has a ringlet hairstyle along with being a rich, snobby, egotistical girl.

She also takes from Blair Warner from, The Facts of Life, where she's the rich rival to the tomboyish Jo Polniaczek.

Washizaki is also an expy of a movie villain in JP named Yasunori Kato from the Doomed Megalopolis movie. SFIICE’s promo art used him as reference.

Because of his popularity, Yasunori had expies in other media beyond these two, Raidou Kuzunoha from Megaten being one of them.

M. Bison/Dictator was modeled after General Washizaki from the infamous Riki-Oh manga. In fact, Bison’s placeholder name was “Washizaki”.

Bison’s CPS1 Vs. Screen portrait was very infamously traced from one of the panels in the manga.

Claw was directly modeled after the Nameless Asura mook from Fist of the North Star.

His narcissistic personality likely came from Yuda, a man who thinks he’s the most beautiful fighter that ever existed, and his battle cry (SHAAAAAAOOOOO!!!) likely comes from Rei.
