excellent historical manga that emphasize on gender roles & the reflection of feudal Japan misogynist society with gripping drama that takes you on an emotional roller-coaster. easily one of the greatest shoujo manga ever & a must-read especially for historical & shoujo fans!

i don't know who needs to hear this but female characters can be a badass (using guns, swords, martial arts, etc) AND look cute while doing it at the same time. hyperfemininity & being a "badass" are not something that's exclusive on its own. they CAN coexist with each other.

people always say they hate idiot or dumb shoujo mc but i have to confess and admit right at this second... OH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. something about their genuine kindness, bravery & boldness (both intentional & unintentional) but very clumsy in showcasing it is just so endearing.
