“What ho, Jeeves!" I said, entering the room where he waded knee-deep in suit- cases and shirts and winter suitings, like a sea-beast among rocks. "Packing?"
"Yes, sir," replied the honest fellow, for there are no secrets between us.

I had to retweet this.
Pretty much entirely because of “PterosaurPtuesday”

Some fabulous images of the aurora borealis from @PublicDomainRev!
Two favorites are Frederic Edwin Church’s painting from 1865 (Smithsonian) and a photo of the aurora above Roald Amundsun’s ship Maud from 1918-1925 (National Library of Norway), but lots more worth seeing https://t.co/Dh2DYsxxzw
Galaxies evolve, too, in a way
@NASA image shows spiral galaxies in a massive gravitational tug-of-war. The spiral galaxy on top seems to have the upper hand, and will likely ultimately incorporate the lower one

I’ve always thought early mammals crept around at night to avoid being eaten by dinosaurs.
A fossil of this fellow had a small dino in its stomach, showing that predation was a two-way street.

The Gashlycrumb Tinies is my favorite alphabet book. It was given to me as a gift by friends of my parents when I was in junior high. (It didn’t occur to me at the time to wonder why.)
Followed (albeit distantly) by P is for Pterodactyl https://t.co/vq3rkPPSNq
One of #Poe’s most successful publications during his lifetime was The Conchologist’s First Book, a popular version of Thomas Wyatt’s Manual of Conchology
Although he was hired mostly for his name, it was not hack work. Poe relied on new work by #Cuvier to propose a new taxonomy https://t.co/Gh9kdGvMM4

Visited the #Camp exhibit at the Met. If you're in NYC, it is very much worth a visit. It starts with some historical context on the invention of the idea and then moves onto how it has been realized in fashion.
Susan Sontag's "Notes on Camp" provides a sort of through-line
