My most recent art development came in the form of me participating in @CrysCries' OC-tober 2020 challenge! (Thanks for the the prompts BTW xD)
There, I overcame a persistent stumbling block by drawing multiple banger pictures without any pre-drawn reference at all!
After that, I did a couple more pieces with light shading. Just getting more used to all that, yaknow
(Featuring young Dante and Plue macking it up lol)
Inspired by @eernarts' drawing style (and especially by a hair shading tutorial she did at some point) I tackled additional facial details and multi-layered shading for the first time in my artistic career and ended up with THIS (after like three days of hard work)
Back with regular drawing, I was still experimenting! One project I had fun with was this one, where I was designing a child of two of my OCs. It's really interesting to figure out how to incorporate design aspects of both characters into one, and how they'll merge in a kid.
It was apparently around this time that I began to venture outside of what had become my comfort zone by drawing characters that weren't my own! The big example being these drawings I did of @ragethegemini's Ira! :D
I also did some more drawings using online chibi bases! That was fun (fingers crossed I didn't accidentally steal anyone's drawings)
However! As well as faces, some of my characters WERE also getting full bodies drawn for them xDD
(In order, here, we have Gaia, Dante, Vector, and Plue)
Chronologically, after that there came some more general mucking around and pinning down character details. A lot of my drawings were face-centric at this point in time, because I could now draw a face from scratch with no reference (which I couldn't do for a full body)
