the messy hair... the furrowed brows... the scowl... the antisocial attitude... this was casting as an art
"Underneath that silly old feud of yours, you really LIKE Spider-Man, don't you, Johnny?" "Yes, I guess I do, Dorrie!" 😭
It's such a great detail that Peter never actually puts his shoes back on -- he's just banking on no one looking down. And poor Betty weeping into her lace handkerchief over boy problems, meanwhile Johnny is getting suffocated by a napkin ghost.
Johnny's role in this arc is really great -- it's important to note at this point in time neither he nor Peter would call each other friends. But Johnny's perceptive enough about Spider-Man that he immediately realizes he's in trouble and he's WORRIED about him.
oh to be a young hotshot celebrity superhero basking in public adoration and signing autographs... making sure to personally hand one out to the cute guy with the brown eyes and the scowl in case he was just too shy to ask for your number :)
"Liz! How can you DO this to me?" "Very easily!" I love them they're so cute
every time he says "wouldn't it be something if [Flash] found out who I really am" I just want to go stare across the ocean. It's FINE.
