Someone asked how I approached this. In this case there was no 3D block. It was an early concept so I just started with a sketch. The image below the sketch is the final with all the layers turned off except the stuff below I'd flattened.

Can't find the finished pagan skin concept. Oh well. There's the original pitch sketch for Revenant. Oh yes, the ball thing that comes out of his arm was designed by the lovely @LiamMacD6 :)

Find the pose, fix the pose, refine refine ... Every drawing is an adventure. I get such a thrill on that perilous journey, even when sometimes those thrills come with blood :)
