This giant frog apparently lived in coastal regions near penguin colonies. Today's Chilean helmeted frog (Calyptocephalella gayi) is pretty voracious and will eat anything it can overpower. So of course I doodled this one preying on penguin chicks :B https://t.co/Qd9852i3Uc
Just reading how the giant #hyena #Pachycrocuta may have held on in some parts of Asia until 120.000 years ago. This beast has been estimated at 100-190 kg, likely obtained much of its food by scaring sabercats from their kills, and had a skull as big or bigger than a lion's!
No way an animal built like this could run down a Jeep. Still, let's face it, this thing is scarier than the JP version; heavier, tougher, stronger bite, likely able to sneak up on you like a forest elephant, no roars or thundering footsteps to give you a headstart :B
@P2N2222A Yes, but only the males. Every time it fed, the feathers absorbed blood and became a lovely red color. By wiggling their lip feathers, the males hypnotized the females during courtship preventing them from biting their head off.
One of my siblings used to watch one of the countless Land Before Time sequels, in which there was this evilish Pteranodon who had two other pterosaurs as henchmen, and one was a pink Rhamphorhynchus type not much smaller than the two pterodactyls. Prophetic? :B
Forget not, the only person whose love you truly need is yourself! But have some love from me anyway. Happy Valentine's Day!
Another prehistoric creature I have never seen drawings of, the giant Miocene porcupine Neosteiromys from South America! It was largely terrestrial and in the same size range as living African porcupine! Here seen carrying a nice skull to gnaw on for dental health and minerals :B
Did you know there were once giant frilled sharks? Some of them as long or longer than your regular great white shark! Take a look :B Old doodle of mine featured! https://t.co/Wb46JZCbO9
