Oh, #palaeophiid, you beautiful muse 😄 These prehistoric sea #serpents had a much higher metabolism than modern pythons and anacondas & roamed seas, estuaries and possibly rivers, eating who knows what, and getting who knows how big (the biggest have been estimated at 9-12.3 m!

Inspired by the some-compsognathids-might-be-large-theropod-babies, I doodled this super scientific thing. Fancy long stripey tails are for diurnal visual signaling and the ribbonlike things are luminiscent and deployed at night. It's all so the adults don´t step on them u see.

Apparently it's #InternationalDinosaurDay! As good a moment as any to remind everyone to keep an eye on Mexico's Cerro del Pueblo formation which is yielding some really cool dino discoveries, such as NA's first deinocheirid #Paraxenisaurus and the spectacular #Tlatolophus!
