if anybody was curious, this is how i ended up modeling the skirt! i got mad at "pleating" it and considered not doing it, but then the stripes got added to the equation and it looked REALLY DUMB without the dimension the pleats give it! so i modeled one panel and repeated it
trying to make a more believable fake skirt drape than the stuff from my psd without having to carve it into the geometry

quick for-fun hair texture instead of the 128x128 texture i use to test hair flow (which the UV map is still using 🤷♀️)
you can chunk it up or make it extremely fine with the sliders on the noise texture and add colors with the last color ramp

just a manual retopo to connect all the bits correctly!
this is funny, because i had a really hard time trying to close her eyes in 2D, and ended up manipulating the mesh the same way i manipulated the autoshape in photoshop and i didn't mean to make them identical
truly truly a coincidence
i'm crediting @2dchaos with this 100% because it's half gradient textures for the face and half some kickass new vertex color skills
in place and a little more refined. looks a LOT better than the foot mitts i was trying to retopo
