.@clivecookson looked at Nasa’s DART spaceship in May. The craft had a year-long, extraordinarily difficult mission to impact a small asteroid as it passed near Earth, testing if it was possible to deflect its trajectory and paving the way for future planetary defence missions
Also in April, I wrote and illustrated my third piece for Globetrotter, the @FT’s guide to the world’s great cities, describing a walk through the Museum of London. History, illustration, London and museums in general are all subjects dear to my heart so I thoroughly enjoyed it
On Feb 24 Russian forces invaded Ukraine and @HenryJFoy wrote a piece examining Ukraine's use of western weapons and this graphic explained how the Javelin missile, a small, portable US anti-tank missile used to great effect by Ukrainian forces, worked
New artwork of an English Electric Lightning F.2, part of a much more involved set of artworks for @AvHistorian, which will be publishing in the new year. Plus a sketch of a wind tunnel model of its forerunner, the P.1, which is in @sciencemuseum in London
Just over a week until the @MuseumofLondon closes on Dec 4 prior to moving to Smithfield. The new site will be splendid but it won't be open for a few years yet. This artwork is from my walk around the museum I wrote and illustrated for the @FT https://t.co/SXnXDHfI2K
@PeteAJohnston @RAFMUSEUM @YesteryearTweet Yay! Parents took me the year it opened. Some favourite memories (of many): Drawing in there as an art student, having my work exhibited there, flying in to Hendon on Bravo November and illustrating the work of the conservation teams for Aeroplane Monthly
… portraits of himself, his wife, his car, his assistant, Harold Wilson the prime minister at the time and a poster that he’d painted for British Rail. His paintings of figures are sublime and I could have looked at this painting for hours
@eric_gillies @AeroPaleo Thanks. One of my favourite jobs was working on this illustration for @HistoryInTheAir with Harry Fraser-Mitchell, former chief aerodynamicist at Handley Page
@AeroPaleo @PeoplesMosquito I drew one of the surviving Vickers test models under restoration in the MBCC at Cosford in 2011
New @ft graphics, with help from @BobHaslett, illustrating a great piece by @peggyhollinger and @clivecookson looking at what might replace the @Space_Station when it is decommissioned in 2031. Use of 3d modelling in FT graphics has quickly become routine https://t.co/iV79xGjth6
