For theme of love in fairy tales, I always return to Tam Lin: holding on to the one you love, through all the challenges and changes, fiercely using your independence to do your part to build a strong bond with your chosen one. Legendary! (🖼️by Erica Leveque)

"Most artistic of all continental weird tales is Undine (1814). In this story.. there is a delicate fineness of craftsmanship.. makes it notable in any department of literature & an easy naturalness which places it close to genuine folk-myth." -H.P. Lovecraft

Speaking of scary Inuit monsters, there is a wonderful, slightly scary, kids book, called The Shadows That Rush Past -A Collection fo Frightening Inuit Folktales" by Rachel A. Qitsualik, which folks might enjoy. It includes the giant NANURLUK (polar bear). https://t.co/hxwHWlvIko

"You do not chop off a section of your imaginative substance and make a book specifically for children, for — if you are honest — you have no idea where childhood ends and maturity begins. It is all endless and all one." (Portrait of PL Travers 1924, author of Mary Poppins) https://t.co/owufLQO6LK

Danish stop motion puppet film (1989) "Skønheden og Dyret" aka "The Beauty and the Animal" is lovely and features a warthog beast. It was written, animated, photographed, edited & directed by a woman, Romana Burianová. She also designed and built the puppets and sets.

Stumbled on this moving interview with puppeteer & puppet-creator Han - mythic & responsive storytelling via objects found & made, the liberation of expression, raw little fairy tales... will likely appreciate this. https://t.co/XGCGREZUEM

Can't find the text but there is a version in which Rapunzel is taught all the arts (& given fine quality EVERYTHING - including a talking parrot) when tower-ified. In many versions she's either fairy-gifted with singing or naturally sings unnaturally-well too!
