2018 - its a tie between sonic mania plus and splatoon 2 octo expansion. i know one is an expanded version of a game that came out the year before and the other is DLC but i think they’re both Very Good

i think the aesthetic for sonic frontiers is fine for what they’re going for, even if it looks kinda generic, but if they wanted to pursue a more whimsical/typically “sonic” aesthetic, some good places to start would be sonic CD’s FMV cutscenes and the OVA.

@BrunAmitie i make art, a lot of it! i also love playing video games and talking about them!

jokes aside, there’s already a lot of lore to build off of from the games and the two movies. putting sonic into a MCU-esque situation only makes it seem that you have to watch EVERYTHING within that extended universe to totally understand what’s going on.
