Four school photos from a relative's collection in Fife, don't recognise anyone and not sure of year or school but the same teacher in 3 of them. One is from Lothian & Co and others by Prophet of Dundee and Edinburgh. @postcard13
Not seen much this week but did find my grans copy of this wildflowers by Patricia baker, illustrated by Leslie butler with some great illustrations in it that people might find interesting #wildflowerhour
@SimonJHistorian @ProfPeterDoyle It seems a long wait, on the other side of the family my grans uncle (ww1) and her brother (ww2) were both initially posted missing. her uncles wife and the local minister both wrote enquiring. Theres a letter between g grandmother's saying, with missing "there's aye hope"
I'm remembering today great grandmothers brother Robert Hastie from Fife, emigrated to Canada pre war, signed on at smiths falls, killed age 34 on 15.09.16 with 20th battalion Ontario regiment. remembered on Vimy and Methil memorial #CanadaRemembers
@CAFinUS I will be remembering my grans uncle Robert Lawson, emigrated from Fife, Scotland to Canada pre war and signed on at Smith's falls. Reported wounded then confirmed killed with the 9th platoon, 20th battalion Central Ontario reg on 15.9.16.
@menofworth @Taff_Gillingham There's ones like this, I was showing my niece's, my gran on the right at 20 in 1938 "in service" at the big house, with the bike she bought that she kept the receipt for. She told us stories of cycling down the long drive in the blackout before she left to go to the land army.
