I made this comic on my younger daughter’s due date while my wife was in the very earliest stages of labor and trying to distract herself from the fact that we couldn’t go to the hospital yet by watching a movie. Wild to me that this was almost six months ago now.
One of my favorite things to do is watch my older daughter draw (she’s 3). Sometimes, I try to draw like her. Not “like her” so that my finished product looks like something she did. But “like her” by mimicking her approach to her materials and canvas. Here’s one such attempt!

On January 5th, when Geeger the Robot: Lost and Found publishes, another winner of my Draw the Author contest will become a published illustrator! This time it’s eight-year-old Annabelle Kolidas. Here’s both the paperback printed version of the portrait and Annabelle’s original!
My 3 year old gave names to the monsters I shared yesterday, and I know I’m biased, but they are INCREDIBLE. I wrote them down immediately so we could make some stories about them someday.
