It was wonderful to be back with the brilliantly feisty and honest Edie in her second adventure. Brilliant with a capital B.

‘What is is about?’ my son asked as I finished reading this forthcoming novella by

‘Freedom. Awe and wonder of the simple things.’

‘That sounds strange,’ he replied.

‘Certainly not. But it’s unique. Powerful. Stunning in fact.’

‘Some battles aren’t ours to fight, but there are other battles that we can do something about.’

I absolutely adored this beautifully written novel and how the fate of Rio’s mum and White Beak are intrinsically linked. A novel with nature and it’s power to heal at its core.

It’s an evening to take this beauty from the shelf again. Definitely one of my favourite non fiction books.

My 8 yo has requested that his next book is a ‘paired read’ which means we buy two copies of the book and I read as he reads and then we discuss. I love doing this with him. The book chat is a joy. He’s chosen this book to start tonight 🐉

This book resonates so deeply.
I’m not actually sure I could share it with a class as I find it very emotional to read, but goodness, I have so much love for its inspiring and comforting words and ’s incredible art work.

My son wanted to read this aloud this morning and it evoked such emotion for us all. This is such a powerful book, full of hope and joy and a reminder of how far we have come and what we have endured.
Every school and household needs this. 🌈

I say I don’t really like sci-fi but then a book comes along that I utterly adore and proves me wrong.
This is a superb book. It’s been in my thoughts when I haven’t been reading and will stay there for a while.
If you haven’t already, read it!

‘Sadness has come to live with me and I’m building it a shelter’
This book is stunning. The personification of grief emphasises how consuming it is and the overarching message is to give it the space it needs.
