We get a nice rogues' gallery shot of the modelmakers, including Marc Thorpe, one of two Lucasfilm Thorpes I'm probably distantly related to! They're standing around the AT-AT contest prize I went gaga over last issue.
Mœbius influenced Star Wars in a lot of ways, including the Holiday Special cartoon (“Lucas had requested that Nelvana design the show in the style of French artist Jean Moebius Giraud,” explains Celestri…) and the Probe Droid, which was based on a background detail in a comic.
I found U2’s Joshua Tree (among other things) in a box by the side of the road and I’m sorry Bono but the back cover of “Billy and the Boingers: Bootleg” has completely eclipsed the original in my head. Every time I see it on my phone I think you’re Bill the Cat.
Turning the Force into another flavor of Star Trek technobabble I have to assume started with the RPG, which then leaked into storytelling. This could be plugged into a video game without a lick of modification.
One of the great mistakes of the Expanded Universe, in my eyes, was making it possible to block the Force by putting something in a box. I blame Zahn and his salami lizards.
