P1: I was thinking of interesting ways to draw a map of Central America when I chanced upon the opening scene of Dumbo (of all things). And no map is complete without an undulating sea serpent, this one based on an Aztec sculpture made out of mosaic pieces of turquois and shell.
It's also worth mentioning that, although I didn't use it anywhere in the art directly, I spent alot of time admiring the lively and energetic style of Mexican artist Miguel Covarrubias (who also happens to have helped rediscover the Olmec civilization!) 30/
@Nsousanis Not sure if it's quite what you're looking for, but may I humbly submit these pages @RikWorth and I made? We wanted the verticality of levitation to move into the 3rd dimension on/over the page (towards the reader) rather than just "up" on the page.
Come find @RikWorth & I at Table 64 in Red Shirt Hall @ThoughtBubbleUK on 12-13 November, where we'll have the last of our Hocus Pocus stock (copies of all issues) before it's gone for good. Look for this banner!
I'm going to try to do a small number of commissions at Thought Bubble this year. DM me if you're interested.
Mrs Potts, Jessica Fletcher, Eglantine Price. Angela Lansbury was in many ways the voice of my childhood. She'll be remembered fondly.
