I didn't want to jump right away into the most derived ceratopsians so I choose Diabloceratops to represent some of the more basal forms. Diabloceratops has some extremely handsome headgear, especially when you elegante it with some keratin sheets.
Good old Pachycephalosaurus is irresistable. As the largest pachy and an animal with a fascinating ontogeny it saved itself a place on this poster.
And so we continue our "why did Joschua pick these animals" thread/t.
Adding some smallish bipedal ornithischians to the mix was a must and Thescelosaurus with well known osteology and interesting skull shape was a obvious pick (also gives the T. rex something to eat)
When you want to add armored dinosaurs to such a chart one has A LOT to choose from, endless forms fill the halls of museums and collections but few discoveries have impressed me more than the small battle axe tailed Stegouros.
It's easy to go for the big and bold dinosaurs out there and to overlook the fascinating discoveries in their shadow. Chilesaurus is a beautiful, surprisingly well known creature with still unknown relationships to the rest of Dinosauria. As such it deserves its place here.
Besides having obvious picks I tried to be as diverse as possible and so Yi had to be part of this project. It's bizarre anatomy has also found many lovers and took the paleo world by storm.
I had this #MonkeyCruise idea for a while now but didn't really come up with a satisfying idea for the monkey or the colorful dress. The painting "the swing", by Jean-Honoré Fragonard is one of the most well known pieces of what we now call Rococo.
