Rubens also, very clearly, loved painting form. Big, solid, fleshy forms that you can imagine grabbing onto and feeling. And this applies equally to his men and his women! And presumably to the models he used.

Sadly relevant in a few months.

Not unrelated to prior points, either, regular, symmetrical points can be pleasing--but generally when built into something that itself has an interesting or varied big shape.

And the girlfriend of the model above. We did two sessions on this, looks like, and she stopped coming, which is a hazard of the field, I regret to say.

From the same bacchanal. There were meant to be three figures--her incapacitated at the bottom, the male figure above in the middle, and one or two people standing in the background who were still on their feet. Never even started those, though.
