I didn't realise but I could actually add in a sort of accessibility option via this addon 🤔
might see if I can fiddle with something basic to toggle something for it, idk how extensive I can really make this tbh

also I looked at the tuskarr models and they can indeed (mostly) wear very basic armor textures 👀
that's of course nothing to say about helps and collection models tho of course. I might do some experimenting later if I can rig them up to use Pandaren anims + shapes
