I distinctly remember reading the last volume during lunch in middleschool &being very pissed off at it.
Chobits was distinct in that it was one of the first manga that I was very attached to, but felt let down by- and so in a way its become a fav of mine to think about -

Mars - Fuyumi Soryo
this manga was actually one of the very first i read, which was sometime in 7th grade. I remember being very intimidated by it, and felt it was very mature and SERIOUS.

Hana Kimi - Hisaya Nakajo
wow i wonder why i was so obsessed with this series as a teen, a story about a girl dressing up as a boy to go to an all boys school? hmm. so mysterious as a gay transman that i am now. mysterious.

However, unlike with FY, i remember falling off with collecting volumes at some point and only read the ending years later at some point.. Which is funny to me now, because I think I prefer it over the two series. yes i also eventually read alice 19th/absolute bf/ect too

Ceres was not what I expected in a lot of ways and a lot darker than FY. i remember often being shocked at the (once again constant) twists. But still, it had a lasting value to me and probably influenced my work way more than I realized.

It was just a series of constant cliffhanger shocking soap opera drama moments.... ALL THE TIME !! but i’ll always have a soft spot for it and its nonsense, no matter how many stupid things happened in it too. which was a lot.
