In closing, I get people see these designs as cute, but can we please admit that everything with them is poorly thought out, overly confusing and kinda pointless?

This really gets under my skin because Flynn says he likes to take inspiration from shonen and regardless of what you think of shonen, they generally have rival/villain characters make more sense than this.

Like they're angry enough to want to burn down everything but decide to be calculated enough to decide to continue working with their kidnapper, give him back the thing he could control them with and come up with a counter measure to Starline's original plan? That makes no sense.

Then we get to Surge and Kit and... why? Not only is brainwashing kids, turning them into androids, giving them distinct personalities that are designed to rebellious and he can only control with his glove overly convoluted, it has nothing to do with his original plan.
