Have you ever heard of the Angelshark (Squatina sqautina)?
It's a nocturnal ambush predator with great camouflage skills! Sadly it's critically endangered sadly because it was overfished - if you've eaten monkfish it's possible it was angelshark.

They live in the Atlantic from New England to South America, create huge pits to expose their food in the sediment, & communicate to each other with pheromones! Incredible animals!

Those are the Greenland Sharks (Somniosus microcephalus)! They can live between 300-500 yrs, thrive in waters at freezing temperatures, & despite swimming at 0.76 mph, they are apex predators. Amazing!

A big one is that Skates lay eggs whereas Rays give live birth! Skates also tend to be smaller & lack the stinging barbs the Rays have.

It has a tooth-whorl that looks like a chainsaw inside its lower jaw & is an underrated & awesome prehistoric shark more people should know about!
