i will NEVER forget the first time i watched this like i screamt the loudest scream i ever scrumt. i was like “what if he said the one thing he wanted was to be friends with gon” and then he ACTUALLY SAID IT

this is not ok

on the same note of gon putting himself through pain on every exam challenge he also sort of feels copped out of every exam… a trend of him throwing himself into danger further and further with less and less regard for his life as he feels like he doesn’t deserve his place

ok we all know this but rereading is making me notice that every test in the hunter exam that gon does exceptionally in is related to him putting himself through more extreme pain than the average person would… in exchange for powerful abilities he has resolve

at first this comes off as gifted kid syndrome but i think this is one of the first signs of killua “not being like gon” and i think this + gon’s success against hanzo + illumi’s appearance contributed to the conclusion of “i’m not Good enough to be a hunter i’m just an assassin”
