Todd McFarlane was born on March 16, 1961, in Calgary, AB. He’s a comic book creator best known for his work on Spider-Man, and his creator-owned series, Spawn. He was one of the seven founding members of Image Comics, and co-created Venom with writer David Michelinie.

On March 15, 1937, H.P. Lovecraft died of cancer of the small intestines. Despite being in constant pain, he chronicled the end of his life in his diary until he could no longer hold a pen. Lovecraft’s income as a writer was never enough to sustain him.

Nina Simone debuted her newest song Mississippi Goddamn in a Greenwich Village nightclub in late February/early March. The March 1964 live recording from Carnegie Hall was released on “Nina Simone in Concert.” Nina considered Mississippi Goddamn to be her first civil rights song.
