#5 of my cartoons from last year. This was maybe the least successful of them, in so far as a lot of people seemed to identify more with the top panel than the bottom panel! In any case, I meant to poke fun more generally at how a song I dislike at first can grow on me.
It's here! @meiko's new EP of "chipmunk-style" versions of her Christmas songs, featuring cover art by yours truly. It was a blast working on this project, in which Meiko asked me to present her as one of the chipmunk characters. Look for it wherever music is sold and streamed!
Illustration from MANGA ART. I had fun trying to get all the details right, including the little shaker of S&B black pepper. Are you a ramen fan? :) 🍜
Here's the 4th of the online cartoons I created last year, in which I poked fun at my inability to post short comments. Sadly this remains true of me even now, as evidenced by the wordiness of this very tweet!
Illustration from MANGA ART. This began as a drawing for YouTube, in which I shared tips on drawing these two different hairstyles. Later I added the "Hokusai" wave pattern in the background, thinking it would provide an interesting echo of the waves in the hair.
Sneak peek! Here's some of the concept art I created for showing "Lost in Taiwan" to publishers. At the time I thought I had to limit the number of colors in the book to keep it manageable (It's a 235 page story). In the end though I decided to go full color. In stores May 2023
It's Monday so time for another cartoon! I'm not kidding: I completely forgot about this one 😅 But it's a transformation any reluctant dog owner can relate to, I'm sure...
Artwork from MY LAST SUMMER WITH CASS. Throughout the book I used blues and purples for the nighttime scenes, and yellows and reds for the daytime scenes. Here you see the original art, prior to the addition of speech bubbles and text.
Recently I was asked to do an illustration that included the skyline of downtown Detroit. I had fun taking this on, as it is quite a different thing from what I normally do. Have you ever been asked to draw something that you're not used to drawing?
