@DUSKdev There would be a lot of issues projecting textures onto a 6 sided cube. The MDL format didn't exactly have UV islands back then, textures were projected onto a model based on the location of seams. You can see it in the dog texture. The pickups are instead externally loaded BSPs.
Tried my hand at skinning a retro Tommy Gun model that @frwthr_exe made. I had way too much fun doing this. Here are some progress pics, still WIP.

Here's my approximation of what a bald Shambler would actually look like based on the skin tone coming from the arms.
Proof that Shamblers are furry can be found in the texture for the gibbed head.
This is soaked/matted fur.
This concept piece by @LloydDraws was one of the main refs I used to help establish the look of my Dwell map for #quake. The initial blockout of the map also featured the 2 connected rooms after the broken bridge but got cut due to time.
