Zorro, his first couple of literary outings, his first several film outing, and essentially everything we associate with the character and his world are in the public domain, but there’s a “company” out there that still litigiously protects their claim on it all if you use it.

It’s genuinely incredible that despite being continually mined as a merch and theme park powerhouse - along with numerous successful seasonal theatrical rereleases under its belt - Disney’s only shot at an actual sequel to Nightmare Before Christmas was that Oogie’s Revenge game.
