I get frustrated with 3D and walk away a lot, but every time I come back things make a little more sense. There's a joy in the illusion of metal and the forces that shape it, both in form and application
Just a teensy bit of progress before bed. I need to keep doing personal work to stay sane and centered no matter how busy I get
Old piece. I think I should have pushed the lighting further. Might build on this idea in a new painting but other things need finished first
Sketching to shake down the new position for the monitor arm. It's gratifying to improve something by drilling a hole in it. A gas arm is really nice for repositioning a display tablet and likely decreases fatigue
Modeler might get something like this handed off to them, especially with an established set of assets with a known family of materials and decals. The model I hand off is light and modular. Bigger orgs will have more formal processes for such handoffs
Messing around in Rebelle 5 before sleep takes me. Invented forms and details derived not so much from references as signifiers
Some things in progress. Might render the gun up in Rebelle 5 as an experiment. I think I like this head better. I don't mind a little anthropomorphism, but something too bestial or pharaonic seems out of place.
Just to continue this trend of showing you what I'm working on due to the graciousness of my employer, here's that proxy model with a partial paintover. It's symmetrical on both the X and Y axis but it's easy to add elements if we want to repeat the piece but add interest.
It's really nice to be able to go from rough to a basic 3D model to check things out from different angles and minimize the amount of guesswork the modeler has to do while still giving them leeway to do things as they see fit
