Next Gen (2018). Seems like it's a recent trend that China commissions expensive animated films from the US. Formulaic, at times clunky dialogue (possibly due to the Chinese producers), odd vocal deliveries, and one or two plot holes. The dog was fun and clever though! #films
A Quiet Place (2018). A run-of-the-mill gimmick horror film. Some scenes made me roll my eyes and guffaw, the CGI was awkward, and I'm not a big fan of suspense for the sake of suspense. But the gimmick was neat enough, and it had its moments. #films
The Magnetic Fields – 69 Love Songs
1. The Luckiest Guy On The Lower East Side
2. The Night You Can't Remember
3. Grand Canyon
A Silent Voice (2016). A teenager must reconcile with his past as a bully. Deals with bullying (obviously), abuse, suicide, mental illness, ableism, and friendship. Hadn't expected it to be so heavy. Definitely a tear-jerker, but at times a bit too saccharine. Still good! #films
Balto II: Wolf Quest (2002). This is a weird movie. Balto's daughter goes on a spiritual journey of self-discovery to learn to accept the fact that she's 25% wolf. There's also a singing mouse, and Mark Hamill has a voice. At least it's not dull. #films
Beyond Eyes (2015). You play as a blind girl looking for a cat. I like the concept and the visual style, but: the controls feel clunky and unresponsive, it's slooow, there is rarely any music, and the story feels pretentious. At least it's relatively short. #games
Tuca & Bertie S1 (2019). Don't quite get the needlessly zany world (jelly lakes, talking inanimate objects, sex bugs), and Tuca comes off as the writers trying too hard to make her cool. But fun enough, and deals with some fairly relatable real life issues. #series
Frankenhooker (1990). Losing his fiance in an automated lawnmower accident, Jeffrey decides to rebuild her using parts from different prostitutes. Such a fun movie! Bonus points for having a random character speak a line of Norwegian. High-quality Christmas watching. #films
