Comics Worldwide: Norway (pt. 5) Peter Haars was a Norwegian graphic designer, illustrator and fantasy writer of German origins, a co-founder of the Norwegian Association of Illustrators, with work strongly rooted in Pop Art movement and touches of surrealism and psychedelia.

Today would have been Jiro Taniguchi's birthday. He is one of my favorite manga writers with rich career spanning over four decades and more than forty titles, winning several awards and knighthood of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. My fave: The Summit of the Gods.

Comics Worldwide: Norway (pt. 3) Grethe (Nestor) & Norunn (Blichfeldt Schjerven) are a duo who work on a pop-art newspaper strip 'Zofies Verden' (Zofia's World), that started out as a fun project of cutting, retouching and recoloring old comics, but has become a full-time job.

Comics that both adults and kids will dig: Peanuts is a comic strip by Charles M. Schulz that ran from 1950 to 2000. It is among the most popular and influential comic strips, with 17897 strips published in all, making it arguably the longest story ever told by one human being.

Comics Worldwide: Norway (pt. 2) Lars Fiske is a comic book artist and children's book illustrator from Oslo. He debuted in comics at the age 12, studied illustration, and published several books. He won the Sproing Award for "Olaf G." which he created with Steffen Kverneland.

Comics Worldwide: Norway (pt. 1) Jason is a Norwegian cartoonist known for his sparse drawing style and anthropomorphic animal characters. Winner of 8 awards, he authored many books among which are Hey, Wait.., I Killed Adolf Hitler, Werewolves of Montpellier, and Sshhhh!

Comics that both adults and kids will dig: Mouse Guard by David Petersen is an Eisner and Harvey awards winning comic book series about sword wielding mice who protect their weaker kin from predators, weather and wilderness.

Comics Worldwide: Nicaragua. Pedro x. Molina is a cartoonist and illustrator working for media in Nicaragua and worldwide. His work for which he received several awards has been published in major publications such as Politico, L. A. Times, Washington Post, Courier International.

August recommendation: Anders Nielsen is an American cartoonist, the author of several books including Dogs and Water, Big Questions, The End, Don't Go Where I Can't Follow and Poetry is Useless. He won three Ignatz awards, a Lynd Ward and a Xeric.
