I worked on this some more because I just can't let my own pixel work be. version 2.0, feel free to pick out all the small differences
I got actually so fired up over this that I decided to redraw all the FF1 starter classes lol just to make a case that you can give these sprites softer shading and a ton of colors and still make them look okay and reasonably faithful to how they looked like originally
Also, because I phrased it weirdly and a friend of mine asked me, what I mean by "vertically-oriented stretched pixels" is that each pixel in the image is actually two pixels tall. In square pixels, this means that the image actually looks like this:
oh, and here, as another extra, was an attempt at making the art in PC-88's V1 graphical mode, which means only 6 hypersaturated colors (RGB + CMY) are available + black & white. as you can see, it's really challenging to make it look great with such harsh restrictions
If it's not clear, this is a chat overlay for said friend's streams, in the style of Firecracker's PC-88 music disks, here, so you can see the original reference:
I just did the art, she's the one that worked on getting the overlay and chat and oscilloscope right!
Commission for a friend of mine - a piece of art in PC-88 style! This means all the pixels are vertically-oriented and stretched upwards, which was very weird to wrap my head around, but I love love the end result! Left is the final piece, right is an alternate palette for fun
hey check out this Street Fighter Alpha graphic!
jk it's just Super Street Fighter II Ken's roundhouse kick but I edited his hair to look like Alpha Ken lol
you ever think about how this cute little toy ship canonically and textually has PTSD
Hey, did you know today is #InternationalVampireDay ? Flash commission to v-tuber @vv_vermilion (it stands for vampire-tuber)
