Been working on a gem race for a while now and think I finally got the balance right while making it unique from Steven Universe and Land of the Lustrous.

Since I live in the desert a prickly pear cactus seemed like the obvious choice, though it wasn't my first one. I decided to go with it because I'd forgotten just how colorful they can be.

I feel like one of the best decisions I ever made was to cut my hair short. It was never as long as in this drawing, but it felt like it sometimes. As soon as it was gone I felt more like myself than I had in a long time.
