Gene Deitch will always be the guy who did those weird-looking Tom and Jerry and Popeye shorts. He was an Oscar-winning master of modernist Atomic Age cartoons at UPA and Terrytoons that many animators are inspired by. He'll be missed by tons of animation fans.

Julie Bennett died on March 31 at the age of 88 due to complications of COVID-19. She was the voice of Cindy Bear, Kitty Jo from the Cattanooga Cats, Lois Lane, Boo from The Mighty Orbots, Agatha and Emily (the two-headed vulture from Looney Tunes), Aunt May & others.

One thing I've noticed about a lot of modern cartoons in comparison to the shows of my youth is that shows tend to have closure and not just go off.

Shows are given an advanced word of their endings, and the creators get the chance to say goodbye to the characters and fans now.
