The cover was designed by the great @DoingThePigeon , with @swinsea back on colors throughout the book. It was a lot of fun switching back and forth and seeing my style mesh with a friend's!

This is why they’re angry, and this is why they want to ban The Deep & Dark Blue. Because it’s about queer, trans joy. Keep fighting.

@lisa_dorina @Traumholz I think adding a smaller line of text under your own name with the names of the rest of your team would still keep the cover design consistent and give them the credit they deserve! It's standard cover design in graphic novels and is an enormous help for their resumes.

I know The Deep & Dark Blue has been challenged and removed from shelves. I know it appeared on last year's Texas Krause list. Thank you to everyone who's championed and defended a little book about a shy trans girl who gets to learn magic and save the day. 💙 Kids need you.

My original pitch for The Deep & Dark Blue was grayscale with a spot color. I learned SO much about coloring making this book, and it's something readers have commented on most over the years-- a huge relief, haha
