Akio forces Utena into a vulnerable position and takes advantage of it. The framing in the manga is intimate and even romantic. Utena lingers in her embrace of him, when series Utena is a much more passive recipient of this attention. Anthy is pissed more than hurt.
That was a little tour of the retired https://t.co/spPrEIFmVM fanart section! There's a ton more, and also this is one of the rare layouts Yasha did!
....ok, fine, if I'm digging up everyone else's 20 year old trash, I'll own mine. I wisely stuck to my day job.
And now for some one-shots!
1. Invisible Ink (https://t.co/xGOv1gv1Ze), circa 2006
2. Mess, circa 2002
3. V., circa 2007
4. Lanithro, circa 2007
Maarika was a prolific contributor who even sent me physical prints of some of her art, which I absolutely still have! Her Deviantart is here and still active!! (https://t.co/7oFXdwwX19) These pieces are circa 2006/2007.
Shirono, whose website has long-since vanished, sent us these prior to 2005. Much fun is being had here with outfits, but let's be honest I'm just here for these ridiculous Saionji chibis. <3
Lia sent us these pieces around 2007, but they were drawn between 2000 and 2004. Thanks Lia for putting the dates right on these so I know that, lmao. BTW the last one displays the vogue at the time for putting style text on your fanart, like it's a magazine. Not as much now.
InnOva, a Russian contributor whose website is...up-ish (https://t.co/aYLK5eIqq2), donated these and other pieces around 2002. Anthy with a chibi Akio was apparently her first Utena fanart, and boy is that starting strong.
Angela Jordan, whose website is miraculously still live on Angelfire (https://t.co/HBPvasfNJl), donated these pieces circa 2002. We have stanned a successful queen Nanami parking her ass in a French cafe all day for literal decades, y'all.
I'd watch the holy hell out of this show, and so would you.
PS. this is the only thing worth a crap that I've ever drawn
