Paintings from this weekend! Practicing with laying on thick paint to get more vibrant colors, the annoying thing is how tough it can be to retain shape design as your canvas turns into a slip and slide from all the paint! #oilpainting #pleinairpainting #californiaimpressionism

2nd part of that process involved scale- these are the size of my hand. This gets the canvas covered faster, and gives a good overview of initial shapes and colors. I also used only a mid sized flat bristle and forced myself to get as many marks as I could from one brush. 2/3

Painting is hard. Oil painting doubly so. Trying a whole new process lately has been amazing, and I feel like I’m finally doing what I want in oils. First part of that has been time- oils are easy to overwork so each of these had a strict 30 minute limit. 1/3
