@andrewtibbs That's 'possible' as in 'I'm not really convinced, but it does line up with @PaulWhitewick's possible route down from Chute Causeway'. The pits are mostly swallets or sinkholes (first time I saw them I thought they were jettisoned bomb craters, which you do see around the ORL!).
For #HillfortsWednesday, here's a #lidar DTM for Fosbury Camp (and some rather lovely field systems lurking under the adjoining plantations and fields) just north of Chute in Wiltshire. There's also a possible length of #RomanRoad *agger* in there if you look carefully.
Here's something a bit unusual for #RomanFortThursday: the Late Roman fort(ress) at Alexandria, variously known as Parembole or Nicopolis. Nothing to see now, but it does play a prominent role in the Battle of Alexandria in 1801: it is visible in plans & paintings of the battle.
