Here's some other design motifs that aren't repeated enough to be "representative" for the generation, but are just "odd they happened twice".
Two notched blades? really?
as for new design motifs introduced in Gen 2, there's these floppy ears. I should have mentioned them with the rest of the ears, but I forgot.
Specifically, the segmented underbelly returns, although Larvitar and Tyranitar use a different color.
but while there were only 4 Pokemon in Gen 1 that you could say simply had "flipper hands", that motif makes up 15% of the roster in Gen 2.
but enough about feet, how about the hands? Well, those lil' hands are back. Stubby arms with stubby fingers.
oddly, while the "tiny little leggies" motif was used exclusively for round blue guys (Oddish, Poliwhirl) in Gen 1, Johto shows more variety. Makes clear delineation of legs and feet sometimes, too.
Also vastly more popular are those "kirby feet", where they attach at the bottom with no visible leg. Some have lines to show paw-like toes, but most are just blobs.
Moving on, the forehead jewel motif remains. As well as a few lips, and tongues (though not the same long floppy tongue of Gen 1)
