Its something that hits home for me even now, but it's not a position I feel lost in. To quote Watsky:
it is an episode of much unrequited love, and dealing with it. In all these scenarios it also deals with the fact that this unrequited love is for someone so close to you, yet you can't quite get to them.

Despite her crippling social awkwardness, and how it potentially breeds misunderstanding, we see her ultimately overcome it in the end, even if just to say something as simple as "it was fun".
Its not anything incredibly new, but its still hits, especially when told this well
I love the interactions we see here; the closeness of Tamako and Mochiko depicted in the cup-phones they share, the way Midori glances at Tamako hinting at some hidden feelings, these little moments further paint the emotional landscape of everyone here.
It manages to establish the plot and feel of the show, the relationships between the characters and the world they live in, and invites us to join them at the dinner table with open arms. A banger of a first episode!
