Episodes 11 & 12 really did well in adding mystery & opening up the story. Really good worldbuilding, and it looks like we're getting set up for something in the future. Really adore the sense of adventure #MiAli
He’s responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands and the loss of Marcel & Annie, for what reason? To terrorize people trying to live normal lives? He realizes this, but he’s too deep in the mission & is responsible for too much to turn back. #AoTali
The anime execution aside, if the meaning of him being a half-assed piece of shit wasn’t clear before, it’s really clear now. Just like Eren, he realized that the “enemies” are human. Him and Eren do contradictory things like saving people they have the intention to kill #AoTali
However, he also acknowledges that his enemies are shaped by their circumstances as well. Thus, since nobody’s blatantly in the ‘wrong’, he can accept either outcome of the battle. In these moments, he demonstrates awareness of the cycle of hatred he’s in; a key theme in AoT.
