Bollers, meanwhile, would handle Sonic & Tails going on a global hunt for Naugus, the reintroduction of Robotnik via an alternate universe counterpart, the Sonic Adventure adaptation, the lead up to issue 100, Sonic’s space adventure…
BTW, if you like “Sonic with a sword,” we get a bit of that during Bollers’ run, given the prominence of the Sword of Acorns in certain stories.
But Bollers largely set story going forward, writing stories like Sounds of Silence and The Return of the King, which set up Ixis Naugus as Archie Sonic’s big interim villain.
The book also featured plenty of contributions from other writers, including Tom Rolston, who wrote a noir-style story, Frank Storm, who introduced Monkey Khan, and Kent Taylor, who wrote the big showdon with Mammoth Mogul.
@nuckles87 Penders also began to draw interiors for #Sonic during this time.
There seems to be a misconception that Penders did most of the art for the book. No, he mostly did smaller back up stories, like this one featuring Knuckles.
@nuckles87 Writing wise, this was the status quo through issue 50, with Penders, Gallagher, and Decasare being the primary people trading writing stories between issues. A lot of new artists joined during this time though:
In order: Brian Thomas, Rich Koslowski, Kyle Hunter, Nelson Ortega.
@nuckles87 It wasn’t long before other people got involved. Scott Shaw! (need to include the ! in his name) left after the mini series, to be replaced by Dave Manak as the primary artist. Angelo Decasare started writing for it alongside Gallagher. #Sonic
