I was expecting Gou would say “the future is in OUR hands” by the end of the series, but I just thought it would be to Satoshi, his best friend…

It’s not until EP 46, when Gou says “the future is in the palm of my hand”, that Satoshi reaches out and adds “OUR hands, right?” And Gou… smiles! Finally he starts to realize that while overcoming things alone is important, having people around to support you helps you grow too
The one and only time Satoshi and Gou fought, it was precisely because of this difference in perspective. Back in EP 3, Satoshi tries to help a Pokémon that seems to be struggling but is stopped by Gou because “if you help it then you will rob it of an opportunity to learn”
