Ancient Egyptians thought mushrooms were the “sons of the gods”, sent to Earth by lightning. Only the Pharaohs were therefore allowed to eat them.

Hieroglyphs reveal that Pharaohs thought mushrooms were sacred herbs that you could consume to become immortal.
