(I did notice that Cass sounds slightly more verbal during this scene, like she's trying a bit harder to speak better in her mom's presence, maybe to show that she's grown a lot more than she thinks? Or maybe it's just me)
She offers to spare the kids the nastiest bits of the interrogation, but Cass demands to stay, and Shiva gets Duke to use his new darkness powers to freak the poor dude out of his skull.
Meanwhile, in London, Shiva, Cass and Duke are being absolute edgelords to one of Ra's' secret bankers.
I do enjoy Shiva's crooked grimace in this panel, and Duke and Cass' rigid, tense, "gotta look tough" body language.
Even his thoughts about Shiva are centered entirely on what effect she may have on Ra's rather than on Cass and Duke, and he trusts them to come back like a man who lets his dogs run outside trusts them to come back home on their own.
And if that analogy sounds uncomfortable...
Afterwards, Katana shares some of her concerns with Bats, who's weirdly dismissive of them considering the situation. But way I see it, this is Bruce at his most mission-oriented. All his thoughts are on stopping Ra's, and at this moment, he sees Jefferson as his best bet.
... may have to "save" Batman from last ish, but maybe she's just being like that because Katana is in the room.
Anyway, Shiva and the kids leave while Katana rejoins Bruce, Jefferson and Sofia as they go put the hurt on Ra's' new League and try to find wherever he's hiding.
... admittedly IS a big part of being Batman, so there's hope for her yet.
Anyway, Tatsu respects Cass and Duke's wishes and Shiva is bizarrely agreeable about the whole thing, even offering to keep Batman on the loop. Which is odd when remembering her words about how they...
... just for the sake of it. And that's what Shiva finds interesting: when people start making choices, not to protect or follow others, but for their own selfish reasons.
Sadly, the rematch will have to wait because Cass has mastered the art of Stick in the Mud Fu. Which...
Shiva offers Katana a spot, but Tatsu keeps her thoughts to herself... except her desire to fight Shiva again. And I really like how Shiva quips that she's finally becoming interesting, which in the context of the last issue, does reveal a bit more about Shiva. Because...
So the Outsiders are currently split into two smaller teams, with Batman and Sofia helping Jefferson test his new power upgrade, while Tatsu is still contending with Cass and Duke's decision to go hunt Ra's on their own alongside World's Best Mom Lady Shiva.
